Sandra Govro, DNP, APRN - Sandra Govro joined the staff at Labette Center in July 2024. Sandra (Sandy) was born and raised in rural Southeast Missouri. A country girl who knows what hard work means, Sandy often worked in the family gardens planting and harvesting the crops for canning or for sale. Sandy was a Girl Scout until the teenage years. Sandy cared for a younger brother and sister as well as the family home while the parents worked. Sandy's dad was the milkman for the family's hometown.
Sandy has been a nurse since 1986 and worked in an inpatient setting. Sandy received her Family Nurse Practitioner certification in 1996 and has worked in multiple fields of medication. Those include rural health, family practice, occupational medicine, and women's corrections. Sandy worked to provide community education programs for diabetes, arthritis, breast and cervical cancer, heart, and renal disease in Missouri, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. In 2015, Sandy completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Sandy then returned to school and completed Psychiatric Mental Health education from Maryville University in St. Louis and subsequent certification in 2021. Since receiving this certification, Sandy has been practicing in outpatient and telehealth setting. In addition to the clinical practice, Sandy is a professor at Chamberlain University for the Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner programs.
Sandy he has been married for 28 years and and has 5 adult children and twelve grandchildren as well as 7 grand dogs. Sandy enjoys spending time reading, working in the yard, decorating for Christmas and traveling to see children and grandchildren who live across the country.
