Verla Pepper-Adkins, LSCSW, Therapist ? joined the staff at LCMHS in 2010 as a therapist, and brings with her an extensive background and training in grief and loss issues. Adkins has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Wichita State University and a Masters of Social Work from University of Kansas. She has worked in mental health as a case manager as well as a therapist and has worked with children and adolescents in the school system, foster care, as well as a residential psychiatric facility. Prior to joining the team at LCMHS, she spent five years working in the field of hospice with terminally ill patients and their families. Atkins is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Adkins moved about the Midwest and Western United States as a child and young adult, and she and her family have settled back into her hometown and are proud to call Kansas home. Adkins is married with two sons and two dogs and enjoys family, friends, scrapbooking, shopping, and reading.
